mom's doing weird stuff

after carting it around for over 10 years without using it much, mom is selling her piano music. she's got lots of it because she taught piano lessons way back before i was a twinkle in anyone's eye. when she was teaching, she had 30-35 students per week, and they ranged in age from 5 through about 60. it was great fun, and a good way to put herself through graduate school.

there's another part though...of course. many years ago (even before the way back!), mom hurt her wrist. she can't play much...maybe 10 minutes at a time. it's not going to get better than it is right now (5 surgeries and 11 years later)...until there's an opportunity for a wrist joint replacement.

so it's time to let go. the piano's going too. it's ok.

mom's philosophy about sorting and choosing things to let go: if it is replaceable, it can be let go. if it is unique, you can choose to keep it. not much of this is unique.

maybe mom will get enough to join the gym so that she can keep swimming! that seems like a worthwhile reason to sell stuff.

This is a good idea. Keep the treasures though.
I hope she finds good homes for all of that fun music..
We wish Blizzie would teach piano some day. she wants to play the big piano in department stores and in fancy restaurants.

Have a happy week-end BenFuzzy, LucyLove and Toni <3

Your mom has good ideas about what to keep and what to let go. Our mom feels it is important to pass on what we are no longer using. She always has something to give when Goodwill or Purple Heart calls.

Sorry to hear about your mom's wrist. :( I do like her philosophy, though. My mom gave up taking piano lessons years ago because she has very short, very inflexible fingers, so she can't even span an octave with them!

Cleaning out is a good thing every once in a while. It makes room for new adventures!

My Lady always wishes that she would have played the piano. She thinks it is one of the neatest instruments.

Your Mom's look at things and their importance in her life is a very healthy and good way to see things. Shew, talk about a doozy of a sentence. I just hope it made sense. She's got her priorities straight. Sounds like she has so very good memories and that's best part, that will stay with her long after the sheet music and piano are gone!!!

You're a good boy, Benjamin! (Oscar let me know that he's the only aloud to call you Benji)

That's awesome your mom taught piano! My mom's a classical pianist, but she never taught students. Sounds like your mom had a lot of fun! And I like your Mom's philosophy very much.

Lots of love and purrs to you and Lucy from your adoring sister,

Marilyn.

That will be nice if your mom gets enough to join the gym - good luck!

My beans carry a lot of useless stuff around with them when they move, but Dad's a packrat!
