humid on saturday

our high temperature today was only 83. the humidity was pretty high, though, and it wasn't all that comfortable. mom keeps fussing with windows and fans.

while we live in a condo, we rent. mom's thinking of asking our landlord if he'll do the labor of putting a new ceiling fan in the bedroom if she buys it. then when (if is more like it) we leave, we'll leave the fan here. i know that daisymae's mom can install ceiling fans herself...so maybe mom just needs to learn some basic electrical wiring. or ask the landlord. mol

with the humidity, mom finally tried the pool. it did the trick! she was almost cold when she got out. anyway, her bathing suit is drying for tomorrow when friends come to visit (and want to play in the pool).

Humidity can be tough! I did my graduation in a coastal town and lived there for five years in an often humid environment.

I nominated you for some awards :)

Do you already have a ceiling light where you want the fan? If you do they are pretty easy to install and the directions are on the box. Replacing ceiling fans was one of the first projects our Mommy did when she bought our condo (we weren't here yet, but that's what she says) She installed the old ugly ones in the apartment Daddy had so that he could have a breeze too.

HUMDITY IS AWFUL! My Mommy grew up in New Orleans and the humidity is 100% most of the time. When she went home last week, she suffered! She and Daddy are no longer acclimated to the weather down there. As for the pool, my family lives in the pool. Instead of having the pool put up this year, they joined a club and spend most of their time there. They all love to swim! It's good that Aunty Toni tried it cause it's also good for the spirit!

My Mommy can't do anything handy around the house. Daddy is handy in everything except electrical. I'd make him come help your Mommy if I knew he wouldn't burn down your house! Good luck with the fan!

I love you!
Daddy

Check out the new light Mommy installed. Maybe it will inspire your Mommy to put in a fan.

Yup. Humidity sux. You'll need a ceiling fan "box" thingee if it isn't already in the ceiling where your existing light is. Just ask at Home Depot or Lowe's. That way the fan will be attached to the rafters or joists and won't fall down on top of you at night....

Good point. We forgot about the box thingee because Mommy replaced one ceiling fan with another.

I agree with Riley and Tiki ... If you've already got a ceiling fixture and it's reinforced enough (like it's on a beam), a ceiling fan is really simple to install. A "j-box" is what the reinforced structure is called. It's simply a matter of ground/ground, white/white, black/black for wiring, and a number of screws to fasten. Not difficult at all. Just make sure that the lights are OFF first. Mom got a tad zapped the first time 'cuz she didn't get everything off (multiple switches).
