mama went to a bookstore earlier today, and then headed to the fabric store. while she was at the bookstore, she noticed that the cashier had an accent that seemed to be british. the cashier was quite young (may be 18?). when asked, the cashier told mama that she's from here. she practices her accents while she's at work! and then--of course--it becomes 'well, why not?'
mama's still chuckling!

Yeah, we're with Forty Paws, Mom is not allowed to go to the bookstore often, cause she will spend hundreds of dollars in there!
But my question to your post is, "Why????"
mama laughs (or like jh: laffin and laffin)...there's no answer to why or why not? it's all goofiness to us!
bookstores are good, but libraries are better. even when mama lived in norway, the library was one of her favorite places!
sometimes, mama fantasizes about winning BIG with the lottery. one thing she'd do is make big donations to lots of public libraries.
Blizzie my sister does that British accent all the time. She is really good. She also speaks French to people. hilarious!
book stores and fabric stores are my mommies favorite places. She goes crazy.

Hi Suz ... I'm glad that you got four bags of dairy-flavored Temptations ... It's never good to run out of them.
Ask your mama which she would prefer: hibiscus flowers, sealife, or cartoony bugs. Mom bought some clip weights that hold down tablecloths for outdoor picnics. Your mom gets first choice 'cuz Mom bought four different packs. Michele and Kirsten each get a pack, but your mom gets dibs. ASAP, okay?

Oh, I forgot ... Has your mama changed her address for her Amazon.com wishlist? She needs to do that ASAP, too.

Bookstores are dangerous places for Mom, too ... Except that she does most of her book shopping from Amazon. Grandad has been shoppin' in Mom's classroom for books to read since Mom is the queen of the "junky-fluff mysteries" bookclub at school with her colleagues.
Bookstores are a lot of fun. It's dangerous to my checking account for me to go too often, though. I like it that the checker has fun at work.
That *is funny! After Rincewood posts, I always want to start talking like him.
That's a cute story! :)
My humans had stopped going to bookstores back in Canada (there were accumulating too many books) but here in Germany, the libraries don't have very many English language books, so they've started buying books again!
our Allergic Girl does that too - speaks in foreign accents for the heck of it, that is. well, she also goes into bookstores and libraries a lot too. she and the Lady never get out of a bookstore for less than $100
Bookstores are expensive trips when Mommy goes, that's why she switched to the libraries!
