mama culpa

mama says she's sorry about not letting me get on the computer these past few days. after having been off work for 6 days (weather/weekend/holiday), it's been hard to catch back up. the particularly sad part is that there isn't really all that much to talk about.

i've been busy doing what any kitty with kidney problems does: i drink water out any one of the three water bowls around the house. and then i go potty. and i go potty. and then potty again. it's important for mama or dad to clean out my box every day!

i won't eat any of the 'prescription' kitty food. ick! mama says she's not going to starve me until i change my mind (at 5 pounds, she doesn't think i'd last long). i don't like the royal kanin baby food. so i eat friskies special diet sliced chicken. if mama or dad is eating poultry, i get little bites of that. i like to lick dairy products from mama's finger: ice cream, sour cream, cheese. my favorite temptations are the dairy-flavored ones. i don't mind the dentabites, either. that's it. i'm happy with that. i don't want anything else. sometimes dad thinks i need 'variety' and gives me a different flavor...and i usually throw up.

i gotta tell you, getting older isn't much fun. keep your kidneys healthy if you can!

Oh, getting older doesn't sound like much fun. It seems a long way away for me, but Mom says it will be here before you know it. So I guess I better take care of myself. Mom is always telling me to drink more water...Tara

Hi Suzanne!
Keep eatin' those Temptations® and ask your mom for some Sheba® or some of the new Fancy Feast® cans (Fudgie LOVES the chicken with egg souffle).

The water's always a good thing. Have you tried it with ice? Ooooo ... yum-o!

When's your mama gonna post some photos? I mean, I know that you're orange and Ben's gonna have a lion-cut, but seeing would be nice.

Guess its better to eat something rather than nothing. Can your mom mix some of the "special" food into your favorite and maybe get you to like it gradually.

Yes, lots and lots of water - Mom is soaking even my canned and raw food in water since I had that bladder stone removed.

Take care of yourself, Suzanne ...

Distilled water, I should add ... she doesn't even trust bottled water anymore.

It sounds like you have a fussy tummy, just like me! My humans say I have an expensive tummy too - I throw up the cheaper cat food, but the expensive stuff stays down.

Look after those kidneys! Glad to hear you are drinking lots.

I have a drinking fountain. I am getting over bladder stones, so I am supposed to drink a lot too. Thanks for the good advice!

Bless your heart Suzanne. The Ol' Fart Bow has the slight beginnings of kidney problems, but his IBS is more troublesome. We here at the Forty Paws have 2 water fountains, a water bowl, and 2 bathroom sinks filled with water for our sipping pleasure because we have several cats who have blocked and have bladder infections, and the like. So, our Maw agrees that a cat can never get too much water.
Speaking of dairy products, our Dorf lufs his Low-fat Yogurt. Especially blueberry or peach. Yumm.
